Valentine’s Day – 29

What was originally a pagan festival, declared a Christian holiday, and commercialized beyond imagination by the USA? No, I’m not talking about Christmas. I’m talking about Valentine’s Day, of course.

If you’ve ever wondered about the the history of Valentine’s Day, check out this video: http://www.history.com/topics/valentines-day/history-of-valentines-day. While some of the story remains up for debate, the big picture is pretty clear.

Now, by all means, spoil the one you love today with all the Valentine’s Day goodies you wish. But like Celine said, “Don’t save it all for Valentine’s Day” – that might be an adapted translation – because today is just a reminder of the love we ought to show everyday, not a special day to make up for what we haven’t done all year.
